GLYCOL OR NO GLYCOL?
Why is so important to have a dosing unit in your cooling system?
Based on our experience clients tend to neglect the cooling system during the summer months because there is "no risk of freezing" however there is more to that...
The over-dilution of glycol causes corrosion problems, this is because insufficient concentration of corrosion inhibitors and insufficient pH buffering capacity will form acidic compounds when they oxidize which causes thermal degradation.Less than 20% is a surefire recipe for bio-fouling, whereas 25% or higher will prevent bacteria and fungi from sustainable growth. The high osmotic pressure caused by the concentration of glycol creates bio-static conditions i.e. does not kill bacteria, but is non-sustainable for growth.
Bottom line: Keeping your glycol level above 25% is key to having a healthy cooling system. We are happy to offer you a solution that will automatically maintain and mix the glycol for you and ensures that this doesn't drop below 25% all year round.
